Aquagard M

Description

An advanced, high performance, one-part, fast curing, high solids, polyurethane rubber polymer version of Chemind Aquagard membrane. Aquagard M is specially designed for the installation of, high build, waterproof membrane barriers.

Uses

Aquagard M is used for bathrooms, shower trays, laundries, balconies, roof decks, sill or window flashings, retaining walls, planters, ponds, water features and landscaped areas. It can be applied to most surfaces.

Features

Aquagard M is a true elastomer, does not contain Portland cement, tar or bitumen.

Aquagard M is engineered to allow application by "flood coating", without multi-layering and fibreglass mat.

Aquagard M is guaranteed when used in with Chemind Chem-Fix polymer modified cement based tile adhesive, designed for application to non-porous surfaces.

Preparation

Surfaces to be waterproofed must be sound, smooth and free from dust, loose matter, oil, grease or other contaminants. Concrete should be cured 28 days and render 7 days.

All surface defects shall be repaired using Chemind Chembond modified mortar.

Use Chemind Chemflex LM PU sealant to fill joints, cracks, gaps and form angle fillets to internal corners or penetrations.

Application

Priming

To inhibit out-gassing (pin-holes) and seal dusty or porous surfaces, apply 1 coat of Aquagard M diluted with one or two parts Chemind GP Solvent at 8-10m²/litre and allow to dry for one hour. Use Chemind Epocote F100W or Chemcote W to seal any damp or "green" concrete.

Roughen surface of PVC or stainless steel.

Detailing

Detail all joints, cracks, outlets, penetrations and internal corners with a 150mm strip of Chemind Reinforcing Fabric embedded between two heavy coats of Aquagard M and centred over the joint.

Application of Continuous Membrane

Apply Aquagard M membrane liberally by brush, squeegee, roller or spray in two or more coats to desired uniform membrane thickness. Allow to dry fully between coats. Application of Aquagard M membrane "flood-coat" layer does not require use of any fabric or glass fibre mat.

Surfacing

The finished Aquagard M membrane may be subjected to foot traffic 8 hours after installation. Following surfacing systems may be used for specific situations listed. Such covering materials shall be installed only after the Aquagard M membrane system has fully cured.

Use Chemind Epocote F100W to seal surface of Aquagard M, then apply:
