Chemfix Super

Description

Chem-Fix Super is a high quality, durable, two-part, rubber based adhesive used for bonding ceramic, marble, slate, stone and other rigid mineral tiles to stable substrates.

It is formulated for use on areas subject to water, impact or movement and conforms to Australian Standards AS 3958.1-1991 and AS 3958.2-1992.

Uses

Chem-Fix Super is designed to bond ceramic tile or stone paving to most substrates and to all Chemind waterproofing membranes, as well as Chemind Sound-Shield Mat acoustic underlay.

It may also be used to adhere Chemind Sound-Shield Mat to Chemind Newflex or Aquagard water based membranes.

Gives secure adhesion to concrete, timber, FC, CFC, plasterboard, cement render in both internal and external areas of residential or commercial construction, including wet areas, showers, kitchens, balconies, roof decks, pools, ramps etc.

Features

The rubberised structure resists vibration and differential substrate movement, assists in reducing noise transmission and prevents de-bonding of tiles caused by tile growth or impact.

Fully Warranted when used in conjunction with Chemind waterproofing membrane system and the Chemind Sound-Shield sound deadening system.

Chemind Chem-Fix Super provides added benefits in facilitating the protective function of the waterproofing membrane system. It is easy to use and holds a firm adhesive bed profile.

Preparation

Surfaces must be sound, dry and free from dust, loose matter, oil or other contaminants.

Cement render to be applied to a 10 mm minimum thickness, with a wood float finish, and be a minimum of 7 days old.

Concrete to be 28 days old. Steel trowelled concrete to be acid etched. Concrete to be dampened prior to application.

Timber is to be appropriately nailed off or otherwise fixed as required by the timber manufacturers recommendations, and sealed with Chemind Primer W.

Cement or plaster board sheet should be sealed with Chemind Primer W.

Surface of Chemind Aquagard, Fastflex or Newflex membranes should be clean, but otherwise are suitable for direct fix.

Mixing

Mix 30 kg of Chem-Fix Super Part A powder & 15 kg (15 litres) of Chem-Fix Super Part B liquid. Add the powder to the liquid and stir continuously to achieve a homogeneous consistency. Allow to stand for 5 minutes before use. Mixed material has a pot life of approximately 1-1.5 hours, depending on temperature and humidity.

Application

Expansion Joints

Should be a minimum 6 mm wide for floors and maintained at 5 m intervals as well as at perimeters, corners, columns and piers. Ensure that joints in the floor slab are reflected in tiling where direct fix or fix to topping screed.

Coverage

Usage is approximately 22-24 m2/45 kg set at 10-12 mm wet thickness.

Packaging

Chemind Chem-Fix Acoustiflex is packed in 45 kg sets comprising a 30 kg bag of Part A powder and a 15 kg pail of Part B liquid.

Shelf Life

Unopened sets of Chemind Chem-Fix Super will have a minimum shelf life of 12 months from date of manufacture, when stored in a cool, dry place.

Any mixed material not used within 1.5 hours must be discarded.

Clean-up

Remove uncured adhesive with water before drying. Chemind GP Solvent may assist with the removal of cured product. Exercise care when using solvents. Please review all MSDS before use.
