Chemcote W

Description

A unique, coloured two-pack, high-solids, water dispersed, resinous liquid compound, which cures to form a tough waterproof membrane bonded securely to the surface.

Uses

Chemind Chemcote W is used for high performance sealing and repair of civil and commercial construction such as:

Repair of leaking lift pits, basement walls, tanks, water features and planters

Waterproof coating to negative face of solid internal walls and floors

Preventing rising damp in concrete floors, under vinyl, timber, carpet or ceramic tiles.

Sealer on damp concrete, masonry and brick surfaces before Chemind Aquagard M membrane or Chemflex PU sealant application.

Highly durable, fast-cure chemical and abrasion resistant floor coating to plant rooms, chemical storage vaults, steps, ramps, etc.

Preparation

Surfaces shall be clean, free from dirt, coatings, oil, wax and loose matter. All surface defects, holes etc. shall be made good with Chemind Chembond modified mortar. Concrete should be smooth and brick joints flush.

Mixing

Measure the required volumes of Part A and Part B. Pour into a suitable clean container. Alternatively, add contents of small Part B can into the Part A can.

Thoroughly mix together, using a low speed electric drill and a paint mixer.

Allow to stand for 5 minutes then re-mix.

NOTE

Mix small amounts that can be used within 20 minutes of mixing.

Application

Apply full brush coat of mixed Chemcote W to internal and external corners, around penetrations and surface cracks.

Embed Chemind Fibreglass Reinforcing Mat in corners for increased strength.

Apply to all vertical surfaces first taking care to avoid sags and runs in the coating, then horizontal surfaces.

Allow to dry fully between coats.

NOTE

Roller application of the Chemcote W will be greatly assisted by the addition of 5 - 10% Chemind GP Solvent.

Full chemical and abrasion resistance is achieved after 7 days curing.

Precautions

Discard material that has started to gel.

Do not subject Chemcote W to full UV, as it will discolour with time.

Care should be taken when applying Chemcote W over internal clay brick walls with damp penetration. Moisture trapped within the brickwork may cause significant deterioration of structure.

Surfacing

If a non-slip surface is required, either mix or hand broadcast clean fine sand into the first body coat. The addition of sand will slightly slow curing process.

Over painting with emulsion paints must be done within 48 hours of application. Otherwise abrasive sanding of surface is required to provide a suitable key.

Use an adhesive suitable for non-porous substrates to bond floor covering to Chemcote W sealed concrete floors.

Ceramic tiles may be adhered directly using Chemind Chem-Fix Super adhesive.

Coverage

Consumption will vary depending on the porosity and texture of the substrate, but average total is 2-3 m²/ litre.

Chemcote W is available in 3.2 litre sets and 14 litre sets

Shelf Life

Unopened containers of Chemcote W will have a minimum shelf life of 2 years, when stored in a dry, cool place.

Clean-up

Wash up with warm water and detergent. Cured Chemcote W material may be removed with Paint Stripper. Exercise care when using solvents.

Handling and Toxicity

General precautions should be taken to avoid skin contact. Use of barrier cream and disposable polyethylene or rubber or polyethylene is recommended.

Should skin contact occur, wash the affected area with soap and water.
