Roofmate

Description

Dow Roofmate™ is a rigid, closed cell, extruded polystyrene foam insulation board. It has an integral skin on the top, bottom and sides, with sealed cells bonded to one another.

It is produced by a continuous, fully automated extrusion process in accordance with strict Dow quality standards.

Uses

Chemind roofing systems incorporating Dow Roofmate™ insulation will save up to 60% of the energy demand for heating and cooling.

Major applications include exposed roofing with ballast (IRMA), sandwich panels, under storage tanks and cool rooms and wine cellar walls & floors.

Features

Roofmate™ was developed for the Inverted Roof Membrane Assembly (IRMA) system, which placed the roofing insulation material above waterproofing membrane. This has the beneficial effect of placing the roofing membrane in a thermally conditioned environment, which substantially increases the potential life span of the membrane.

Preparation

All installed waterproofing membranes must be inspected to insure that there are no signs of damage. Any damaged areas must be repaired before Roofmate™ placement proceeds.

Application

Install Roofmate™ sheets over the clean membrane. Cut and apply Roofmate™ sheets ensuring a neat fit of edge profile.

Roofmate™ may be secured in place with Grace Bitustik Tape^® prior to stone ballast, paving slabs or topping on roof or deck applications (see Surfacing below).

For wine cellars it may be adhered to the surface with Chemind Chemflex sealant or water based stud or contact adhesive.

Surfacing

IRMA Roofing

Use a layer of rot-proof geofabric over Roofmate™, followed by 50 mm thick layer of 30 mm washed river gravel as ballast.

Use 0.2 mm PE film over Roofmate™, followed by 40 - 50 mm thick pavers supported on Chemind Multi-Pads.

Use 0.2 mm PE film over Roofmate™, followed by a reinforced 100 - 200 mm thick concrete wearing slab.

Protective Coating

Use Chemind Chemcote W over the Roofmate™ as a tough abrasion resistant coating.

Rigid Surfaces

Fabric reinforced modified render or FC sheeting, applied by appropriate methods, over the Roofmate™.

NOTE

A typical 200 mm slab with Chemind Newflex membrane, 50 mm Roofmate™ and 50 mm of gravel has an over all thermal resistance of approximately R 2.3.

A typical 200 mm slab with Chemind Newflex membrane, 50 mm Roofmate™ and concrete pavers positioned on Chemind Multi-Pads has an over all thermal resistance of approximately R 2.5.

Do not use solvent-based adhesives, mastics or coatings on Roofmate™.

Packaging

Roofmate™ is provided in sheet sizes of 1.25 m x 600 mm or 2.5 m x 600 mm, in sheet thicknesses of 25, 40, 50 or 75 mm. Length of 40mm, 50mm and 75mm sheet is 1.25m. These sizes are available as 2.5m on indent request.
