Preparation
When Applied to Chemind Membrane
- Membrane surface to be clean of all contamination. Any damaged areas must be repaired with the appropriate Chemind membrane and allowed to cure fully before proceeding.
When Applied to a Substrate
- Surfaces must be sound, smooth and free from dust, dirt, loose matter, oil,
grease or other contaminants.
- All surface defects shall be repaired using a Tuffcote Duratop compatible
exterior patching compound.
- Open joints shall be filled flush with Chemind Chemflex PU sealant.
- For maximum non-slip effect, concrete should be trowelled and finally finished
with a light nylon/hair broom.
Application
When Applied to Chemind Membrane
- Apply Tuffcote Duratop directly to the membrane in one or two coats to give the desired finish.
When Applied to Substrate
- Apply one coat of Chemind Epocote F100W at 6 to 7 m2/litre and allow to dry.
- Apply a full brush coat of Tuffcote or Chemind Newflex to fill any significant cracks or joints.
Generally
- Apply a minimum of 2 full coats of Tuffcote Duratop by roller or brush, at the rate of 5 to 6 m2/litre per coat.
- Tuffcote Duratop may be diluted with up to 10% clean water to aid spreading.
- Slip resistance of Tuffcote Duratop may be enhanced by application using a texture roller or by lightly broadcasting fine sand over one layer of Tuffcote and allowing it to dry, then removing any excess sand and applying another coat of Tuffcote to fully seal the surface.
NOTE
- Heavy-duty trafficable waterproofing membranes for car parks and ramps must
use Chemind Newflex membrane system fully reinforced with Chemind Fibreglass
Reinforcing Mat. See the Chemind Newflex Data Sheet for more information.
- Light duty trafficable waterproofing membranes for balconies, walkways,
roof decks etc may use Chemind Newflex-R100 membrane system. See the Chemind
Newflex-R100 Data Sheet for more information.
- Tuffcote Duratop should not be used for areas subject to continuous ponding
or immersion.
