External and Internal Protection for A0 and H0 Fire and Blast Rated Bulkheads

The standard Firetex seal provides for movement of up to 25mm in any direction. For design movements in excess of 25mm, contact our technical department for advice. Each seal is supplied complete with fitting instructions, adhesive and stainless steel worm drive clips to suit pipe and sleeve diameters. For sleeve diameters of 350mm and above, double clipping is required.

(Note: The seal may be supplied with a number of clips to be used in tandem for very large diameters).

MCL Unitex Ltd, a member of the ISL Group of Companies, are specialist manufacturers of flexible and rigid passive fire protection systems and have many years experience in the design and construction of fire seals and fireproof enclosures for the Oil and Gas, Petrochemical and Refining Industries worldwide.

Firetex Systems - The company's enclosure and seal systems have been developed and tested to meet the very latest industry standards and have achieved high levels of performance to meet the arduous duties required in hydrocarbon fire hazard environments.

Health and Safety - Firetex seals and our flexible and rigid metallic enclosure systems are multi-component systems made up from ceramic and glass cloths, ceramic felts and blankets, metal foils, silica aerogel panels and high grade stainless steels. Where specified, silicate fibre products may be employed, products which exhibit the same thermal performance in both cellulosic and hydrocarbon fire, but this patented fibre formulation gives enhanced solubility in the human body. To provide protection against harsh environments such as those experienced offshore, MCL's flexible systems have an elastomeric membrane coating which has been tested to DIN53436H and under fire conditions has been proved to be totally innocuous. COSHH data sheets are available covering all system component parts and for the special high temperature adhesive supplied for final jointing of seal systems.

Quality Assurance - MCL Unitex Ltd manufacture their seal and enclosure systems to strict quality control procedures and practices in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2000 Formal accreditation is held through British Standards Institute who audit our operations annually. Copies of our certification or our Quality Manual are available upon request. In addition, any client audit will be welcomed.

Testing & Approval - MCL's seal and enclosure systems are independently tested following the hydrocarbon fire time vs. temperature curve for a period of two hours in accordance with the Department of Energy Specification - Issue 1 : 1990, adopting the appropriate procedures of the exchange of notes and the International Conference on the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), as amplified by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO). Throughout testing, MCL's systems have maintained their integrity, stability and insulation properties and accordingly carry certification issued by either Lloyds Register or Det Norske Veritas. In addition to fire testing, the Firetex range of penetration seal systems have been subjected to independent blast over pressure testing and have proved their ability to maintain stability and integrity in blasts of up to 1.3 bar g.

Firetex Skirt Seal

MC230 Firetex Pipe Penetration Seal

Suitable for A0 and H120 Fire Rated Module to Module / Deck Seals

The illustrations detail typical A0 / H120 Firetex skirt seal systems. Methods of attachment may vary in accordance with physical site constraints or choice. In the examples shown, fixing is by M10 stud bolts welded to both bulkhead and deck. Another suitable alternative is to create a stand-off with toe welded steel angle as shown. Although omitted for clarity, an approved fire rated insulation should be applied over the attachment fittings. Typically, insulation applied to bulkheads and the like would be extended to cover these fixings. The Firetex system has been independently tested and is certified by Lloyds Register. The double skirt seal, in addition to fire testing to H120 standards, is certified for use in blast conditions up to 1.16 bar g. Skirts are manufactured to suit and are supplied in straight lengths with ends prepared for joining. Corners, bends and T-pieces may be supplied where required with ends similarly prepared.
